Drive and respire!

Today, mobility is an essential prerequisite for the functioning of our modern society. Harmful emissions such as CO

2, particulate matter and carbon as well as noise are unfortunately the side effects.

Electric vehicles are a good alternative to traditional vehicles, because they are almost silent and don´t produce emissions while driving. They are a chance for the climate protection and for the reduction of the dependence on crude oil.

Electric vehicles have a limited range - at first glance this seems like a disadvantage. However in Austria around 98 percent of car trips are shorter than 100 kilometers. The first generation of electric vehicles has a range of 100 to 200 kilometers. This proves that electric vehicles are suitable for the majority of car trips in Austria.

The electric motor will play a crucial role compared to other alternative drive mechanisms.

Graz becomes e-mobile

Energie Graz as an energy provider for all citizens of Graz is pushing e-mobility by providing the appropriate infrastructure in terms of energy production from renewable energy sources as well as possibilities for refueling.
Especially in urban areas, e-mobility has a promising future and offers a good complement to public transport. Electric bicycles, e-scooter and electric vehicles for car fleets such as taxis, car pools or carsharing are especially suitable for cities. For example a commuter covers an average distance of 15 kilometers a day. Electric vehicles are ideal for such short distances. While the commuter is working, his vehicle can be refueled at the charging station.
This contributes to climate protection and helps to reduce emissions and to save fuel costs, because electricity is much cheaper than diesel or gasoline.

Our contribution for an e-mobile Graz

  • Construction of a charging stations infrastructure
  • Service and maintenance of charging stations
  • Increasing the awareness of electric vehicles
  • Refueling opportunities related to renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic systems (PV systems)
  • Installation of photovoltaic systems at P&R facilities, shopping centers, schools, taverns, etc.
  • Installation of photovoltaic systems for private customers, including the charging stations for cashless fuel-filling
  • Development of attractive tariff models
  • Adjustment of the Energie Graz car pool to electric vehicles

To refuel both easy and cheap

Our charging stations allow our customers to cashless refuel their electric vehicles with using a debit card. We are currently constructing further charging stations to enlarge the charging stations infrastructure in the coming years. With an area-wide infrastructure the penetration of the market with electric mobility is possible. In future this allows refueling at P&R facilities, shopping centres, at school or near the workplace.
By the way: the current electricity costs for a small car are around € 130,- for an assumed performance of 10.000 km per year.

Push electricity generation from renewable energy

With a 20 percent share of electric vehicles for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, mopeds and motorcycles, the additional power demand in Austria would be around 2,500 gigawatt hours per year. This corresponds to a share of less than five percent of Austria´s national electricity consumption. This additional needed amount of energy could easily be produced by renewable energy sources.
